4 lug rear disc to 5 lug rear disc

ok so this is a lil different than the norm. i want to convert from 4 lug disc rear to 5 on my 91 gt anybody know what i would need?
and yes i searched seems all people have done is the drum to disc w/5 lug

You might be able to just swap to the five lug axles and rotors. Don't quote me on this, though. I don't really have much of an idea as far as that. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will step in and tell you.

It's actually not un-normal at all...What are you asking, how to do it and keep drum brakes, or how to do it and swap for disk brakes?

Whoops, my bad.:smash: In theory, all you would need would be 5 lug axles and 5 lug rotors.

in theory yes,,,i was hoping there was going to be some more insight... what my actual situation is i have drums,,the normal 4 lug gt 91 mustang setup except with 17" cobra rims i also own a pair of y2kR rims in 5 lug that i want to put on eventually but for looks aswell as peace of mind i would like to get the disc in the back with my 4 lug though i don't want to buy one kit than a year or 2 later buy a whole new one for my 5 lug...sorry long run on sentence^^^^ any how you get the idea ah?

Oh, so you have drums in the back right now, correct? But you wanna put the disc in the back right now, and then later on do the five lug conversion?

if i convert my drums in the rear of the car to disc...for now, with 4 lug would it be a waste? cuz i'm moving to texas this summer and the winter project for than is going to be to convert to 5 lug so i can use my cobra y2kr rims.
i thought if i went ahead and swapped the rear to disc it might save a little work than, i don't know i'm realy just thinkning out loud here

Yeah, If your goign to go through the trouble of swapping to discs, why keep them 4 lug? If that's what your asking. Just do the 5 lug/disc swap all around...

I would do it all at the same time. So you don't have to buy two pairs of rotors. Do you have tires already on the 5 lug wheels?

Ha, well brakes are something that you don't want to half-ass, so I'd wait until you have a cash to do it all and do it right.

You could go to the junkyard and see if you could find a sn95 and take the spindles off for the front and brakes. Then get the rear axles and brakes too.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think SN axles are longer than foxs.

Ah, yeah I think you're right. Maybe it was the ranger axles? I can't remember, I read it awhile ago to what you can use for the swap. My bad. :smash:

i agree i don't want to half ass here,, kind of why i want to go ahead and put the discs on now i have 400hp to the rear and would like to do some track driving, i'm just worried about the drums holding up, and yes i do have tires mounted and balanced waiting to go on
