Doable, yes. If you don't lower the car and go with the taller tires, you might save a few choice words. I have looked at the side exhaust for a long time and asked many questions. If you look under the car you will see the floorpan just behind the side skirt, Subtract 3" from that height and...

Not really sure, I will do some recon for ya, but the p1000 code is OBD-II Monitor Testing Incomplete, it just means that the OBDII system check has not been performed. In other words you cant pass emissions until its gone....other than that it means nothing. Will find out more.

If I remember from doing my 87, I loosened all of them up, then pulled the light out until the nuts were the only thing holding them on. That gave me enough room to remove the nuts. Install the same way. You might also be unscrewing the studs also, I had a few come out of the light.
