wakester06v6Did they tell you specifically what was not ready?, do you have a custom tune?, recently disconnect the battery? There are a lot of factors that need to be looked at before we can diagnose it.
Sydney BayerThank you. The battery was not disconnected. About a month ago the engine light went on & my ZUBIE told me it was PO456 code (minor engine problem). Replaced the gas cap & my son cleared the code with my tune. I've gotten gas since & driven (even did National Mustang Day cruise) prior to inspection. Any suggestions?
wakester06v6the P0456 code comes back as an evap system leak. replacing the gas cap was step 1, you may have to have the fuel pump replaced, and or have a smoke test performed at a dealership to track down a vacuum leak. That's the best info I have for you, maybe someone else here has some more to add.
Sydney BayerThank you, this helps. It's the dealership that's doing the inspection. Just surprised they can't find the problem. Fuel pump was replace a few years ago.
wakester06v6The only other thing it may be is a nick, crack or cut in a vacuum hose on The evap system. The dealership isn't going to find it unless they are looking for it, and then only if you are paying them to look for it.
Sydney BayerWent back today with additional over 900 miles & still won't pass inspection! My son tuned it back to stock & then re-tuned it for the cold air in-take. Have to drive it 150 miles & hopefully it will pass. If not - they may have to keep it over night & check out my computer. :(
wakester06v6So, here is a twist. You have a custom tune. It is possible that certain sensors (O2) have been shut off in the tune program that will show as a Not Ready. Going back to a stock tune should correct that. I would also follow the directions on this link to properly reset all the monitors: http://www.obdii.com/drivecycleford.html
PlinkerHad a friend who has a 2004 F 150,4.6 did the same thing. He drove over 3,000 miles and it would not reset, ended up being a coil pack with moisture around the spark plug boot that messed up the coil pack! The truck ran fine just would not reset for inspection. Changed the coil pack and it reset within a 100 miles.
Sydney BayerUGH - sucks! My son tuned her back to stock & then re-tuned her for the higher octane & now driving 100+ to see if she'll pass. May have to get the 10 day extension. 11 years - no problem with inspection! Thank you everyone. I'll keep you posted.
TDHJSilver06That code might also be the vapor canister purge valve. Changed out the one on my Explorer and it cleared for inspection last month.
Sydney BayerWell - it didn't pass again today! That's #5!! So I'm bringing it back to the dealership to keep overnight & see what they can find out. No choice. :(
TDHJSilver06I thought that once you reached a point they would pass it. Thought I heard it being a dollar amount of $400, but then the next year if it happens it must be fixed.
Sydney BayerLOL - hope that's not the case! If something is wrong I want it fixed now not a year from now! Still think it's the computer, but dealership is pushing for special driving! ;)
Sydney BayerTook her to an AAMCO to see if they agreed with the Ford Dealership & he did! Told me to "drive it"!!! UGH already put almost 1200 miles since 5/8! :(
Sydney BayerI have my own Tune, but it's only tuned for the cold-air intake's 91 octane. It's not the tune that's the problem. It's the OBD reader that's saying, "not ready". :(
