To keep the price in that range its not a fully optioned 5.0 The Supercharger without installation is around 7K . Being it was dealer installed , it is covered by the Ford factory warranty.

I think it is just a way for that dealer to take advantage of the market. Alot of people buy a GT and throw a blower into it. They are just allowing you to finance the blower at a reasonable rate instead of having to fork over all the cash upfront or pay high credit card fees. I'm sure they will sell you any GT package with a blower, but like Stu said, you're getting cloth seats and basically no options for $40k

The article says the base GT is right around $33k, and the final price is $40k. So basically you can add a blower onto any GT package for $7k by the sounds of it. And a GT 350 would be more of the $60k - $80k, so you're still quite ahead of that I would say.

But realistically, you wont be driving one off the lot for less than $60k. The dealer mark-up is insane.

Interesting thing about the package is the"Phase II" 727 hp spec car, the one being advertised is not warranteed by Roush. The "Phase I" version is 670 hp and is warranteed by both Ford and Roush. My brother has been talking to the people at the dealership. and was informed of this. He priced the base GT w/ PP and Recaro's. It came to $44.5k not including shipping and NYS sales tax.

With the new ZL1 coming out in a couple of months and the Z28 soon thereafter, the GT350 will be playing catch up. Thjere are some rumors the next GT500 could be a twin-turbo V6 simialr to the one in the new Ford GT.This was the same formula Ford used when the Last GT and GT500 came out.

Phase 2 is not under factory warranty. Its because of how far it pushes the HP/TQ with the additional mods.

To the point of the GT500, I personally would be very surprised if ford put a V6 to copy the new GT. The GT is based on all out performance. It competes with Ferraris and Lambos and other exotics which use similar engines. To me, part of the GT500 is the engine and the noise that comes out. I think most people who buy the GT500 love it because of that huge V8 pushing almost 700 hp. If you have instagram, you may know a guy by the name mustangmanny, who is the top Shelby sales guy in the country out of Gaudin Ford in Las Vegas. He posted that he heard rumors of an Eco-Boost V8 possibly going in the new GT500. But time will tell soon.
