myslow04gtyeah im not looking to damage anything someone i know messed up his whole exhaust dropping his... if i do counter productive things i cant buy as much mods so i might not be dropping anything haha
AristerosI hear that! When I was on the teins, I ripped a muffler off driving down woodHaven blvd in queens. Lol.
AristerosI'm back on stock springs now in favor of getting my 60' time down.
Super JewI'll try to get you a pic today. Teins do have a harsher ride than most springs, just because the drop is steep. But the handling gains are untouchable, unless you go coilovers, which often have an even harsher ride quality than teins. Also, I have had the teins in for almost 2 yrs now and have had zero problems bottoming out, and my exhaust is hung a few inches under factory ride height.
Super JewJust out of curiousity, Aristeros, what was the rest of your suspension set up? any other mods with the springs?
Super JewBare with me on how dirty she is, Its been a LONG rough winter...
Super JewSo, I have the teins S model, which are 2.5" front drop/ 2.25" rear drop, with cobra front control arms (adding another 0.5" drop in the front), mm camber plates, steeda bumpsteer, x2 ball joint, bbk steering rack bushings, and Kyb struts/shocks. The only part that I wouldn't recommend is the Kyb struts, as they don't perform great with the drop. I have Tokico blues on shelf waiting to go in... If you do end up dropping it past 1.5" I would recommend doing the front end mods I have, and If your going past 2" I would recommend rear control arms, as well... If your car is only going to be used for daily driving I wouldn't go nuts with all these parts. my build was focused on handling for autocross, so its a bit overdone.
myslow04gtoh i got you that looks amazing though... yeah thats what im nervous about since i drive it to and from work... i dont beat on it at all but i just wouldnt want to hit a pot hole and end up spending unnecessary money... so you wouldnt reccomend this if its a daily driver
myslow04gti love the shadow grey thats my favorite i used to have a v6 that color
Super JewThanks, ya I love this color too... This car actually is my daily driver, so its definitely do able to have a harsh ride on a dd, it just takes some time to get used to how it reacts going over bumps. The plus side of the drop being awesome handling, you'll definitely love being able to take turns at crazy speeds... I've driven a few mustang guys around that preach about keeping stock specs on all suspension parts, and even they had a wide mile on when taking turns 3x faster then their stangs could handle... There are going to be pros and cons with any suspension setup, but I personally wouldn't go back to a softer ride in compromise of handling... a side note, I've noticed that the only problems I have with my setup are my tire size. my side walls are 30 and 35, with 255 -285 widths. so the low profiles don't help the ride quality, and the width cause the car to pull side to side over uneven roads (like queens blvd). If you had a larger sidewall you could fill extra fender gap and it will really help the ride quality.
myslow04gthmm your making me want to drop it to the floor... i mean i honestly do want to drop it because i know its going to make my car look so much meaner... but im nervous at the same time
Super Jewwell, if your ever in Jersey, your welcome to take a ride in mine and see exactly what you'd be getting into. I was also nervous about doing mine, but my friend, who drives a Mr2 spyder with a lot of suspension mods, pushed me into it, and I can honeslty say that I have no regrets with it. Besides it also nice that his mr2 cant loose my stang in the twisties.
Super JewIn the end I would tell you to figure out what kind of build your going after. If you want handling, than I would recommend teins (because of the aggressive drop), If you want the lowered look, any main stream spring that drops about 1.5" will do the job, besides with a smaller drop like 1.5" you won't need all the other performance parts, just a good alignment.
