First off when the red rings of death began Microsoft was not covering the repair it was after the failure rate jumped to 35% that they began to cover the damage and accepted it as a failure of the hardware and not user error.
When you buy the Ps3 from the sony store they offer u an extended warranty for 3 years that covers in-home and mail out service.
Bottom line is that the xbox 360 failure accounts for over 50% of there sales, People buy more than one system because they are so cheap, and to keep as a back up for when they send out the system to be repaired.
ps3 has 25 million sold worldwide from what i googled with a failure rate well under 20%
Xbox 360 has 28 million sold with a failure rate over 45%
Also the failures on the ps3 are not the system not working they are when the Hdmi output fails and they send it back just for that. Just in case you didnt know even with the hdmi damaged the component multiport still works and the system still powers on and plays, unlike the xbox 360 when it starts flashing red its over.
excuse me buddy the ufo hack for the COD4 modern warfare was on both system's, also you dont factor in that the ps3 has a blu ray player
add on to ur xbox purchase the cost of a sony blu ray player and dont go saying oh i dont watch blu ray because blu rays discs are beginning to replace regular dvd's just like dvd's replaced tapes.
Point being that the xbox fails more because of one hardware failure, that microsoft fixes for free. I know people that send their PS3's back for WAY more than one hardware failure.

a lot of people buy the PS3 for the blu-ray and nothing else, which means that most of the time the ps3 is sitting around doing nothing, and when its not on, it can't fail.

Remember bluray players are getting cheaper now so bluray is not the best part of a ps3 anymore. Remember ps3 came out it was the cheapest bluray player on the market. Now it is not that way anymore. People who want to watch bluray usually buy a bluray player. Just my 2 cents. I truly believe the ps3 is a much better system but games are lacking right now. That will change when gt5 finally comes out.
Did you note see where i said they werent excepting it as a hardware failure to not to long ago, and then u have to wait up to a month to get it back so u paid for 12 months of xbox live and now can only play 11 months and thats if it doesnt fail again 
The xbox is 250 bucks, the ps3 is 400, the people that but it just for blu-ray are smart because of the automatic updates. Those who buy it for that ARENT EVEN BUYING IT FOR THE GAMES OR PLAYABILITY. People buy the xbox for the sole purpose of gaming and having fun with friends online.
I guess u over look the figures i posted before from the poll taken that started this thread i will list them for u again. Also anybody buying a ps3 is using it for games, your reasoning and excuses are on thin weak ice
usage of the systems
xbox 360 3 to 5 hrs daily 40.3%
Ps3 3 to 5 hrs daily 37%
also it doesnt matter if its one hardware failure on the xbox 360 because its a critical hardware failure that doesn't let you play the Xbox360 anymore
Remember it only takes a good game to swing the tides in console wars. Plus when the bluray gets cheaper so will the games and this will let more developers make games for the ps3. The xbox360 is getting better though i must admit. I have one with the falcon chip and since christmas no red rings or hicups with it. Falcon dropped the failure rate in half.
That's the only thing that's keeping you going. In 2 weeks it is fixed, and if it break again? 2 more weeks. 11 months of a much better system is better than 12 months of an xbox IMO.
and that percentage is just proving people use the xbox more
the people that buy ps3 for blu-ray usually go home and watch a movie every night on it, or even a bunch on the weekends. and movies are 1-2 hours long. I have tons of friends that have a ps3 and it sits there until they want to watch a movie

thats why i said add on how much a SONY BLU RAY PLAYER IS to the total of the xbox, Xbox360 was suppose to have blu ray but changed last minute and decided that they would go with HD external player which failed because warner brothers 2 years ago decided to relase regular and blu ray disc only which put an end to the HD dvd rise.
Also you guys are repeating the price on the cheapest xbox which is not what most people buy whats the new price on the fully loaded xbox
When the 20 gig ps3 was for sale it was 290 new
