PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES, Do This at your own Risk!!!
Well First and foremost! make sure your engine is cool (not hot or warm) i did this after a long night of the car being off.
Things you will need,
1) Engine De greaser
2) Engine Detailer (CD2)
3) Plastic Bags, (or something similar)
4) Soft Brush or Old Wash mitt (bucket of car soap and water to clean your brush or mitt)
5) Leaf Blower (if you have) if not tons of rags to wipe everything down.
6) Latex Gloves (as you will get down and dirty depending on your engine)
i also would like to give a heads up as the spray degreaser will splash on your paint so its a good idea to soak your car down with water just so nothing sticks to the paint and bakes in the sun.
Things i like to cover with Plastic Bags are,
Alternator, Fuse Box, MAF, Battery and COIL PACKS, (clean them by hand)
i know 99-09 mustangs have C.O.P, i did my friends 03 GT and i didn't cover any of the C.O.P and car was FINE but DO NOT USE A LOT OF WATER!!! When rinsing your engine bay! you have do a lot of whipping.
a lot of this work is going to be manual labor (with a old microfiber and terry cloth,)
Okay now that everything is covered, i spray the degreaser all over the engine from Front to back! cover it nice and even, let the degreaser sit for 10 mins MAX, while waiting to sit and eat the dirt away, you should be looking for spots that are really soiled, try to clean them with a Rag, once you did the best you can, rinse the car with a hose NOT HIGH PRESSURE! i use the shower setting on my nozzle, once you get most of the degreaser off the engine bay. Dry the Engine Bay! If you have a leaf blower handy, i would blow out as much of the water as you can from the engine before you uncover anything. if you do not have a leaf blower start drying as best as you can. takes a lot longer without a leaf blower. But once the engine bay is as dry as you can get it. take off all the bags from the Alternator, Fuse Box, MAF, Battery and Coil Packs, now Start your Engine and let it run for a good 15 mins, with the hood closed, you will see smoke THAT'S OKAY! Now after the 15 mins have passed by shut the car down, open the hood and start spraying the CD2 or whatever silicon based spray you plan on using on the motor. after you are done spraying whip down the engine with a old rag to make sure everything is EVEN with CD2 or silicon spray, sometimes it can get watery looking, whipping it will spread it evenly, once you are done let the motor run for anything 5-10 mins. once again guys please do not worry about smoke its either the water burning off the engine or silicon, After its all said and done wash your mustang as you would! to get all the spray off the car!
