Hey everyone. When I first bought my 1997 Mustang GT, the engine bay was a mess. I took the following steps to clean the engine bay:
Fist you must cover the alternator, distributor, wires, and anything electric with plastic bags & avoid spraying directly on them.
1) Spray the whole engine bay down with Simple Green, and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes.
2) Scrub down any nasty areas with a brush
3) Turned engine on.
4) Use a low pressure hose to rinse off the engine bay
5) As an extra cautionary step, I used an air compressor to help dry off all the wires
6) Let Engine bay area dry
7) Armor All the plastic engine pieces.
*Please note that I took the strut tower brace off for additional cleaning and repainting.
**For Mustangs that have distributors, cover up the distributor and coil with a bag so you do not damage anything.
Thanks,
Rob
