I didn't have a problem. All my friends did though! We all have similar setups with the exception of brakes and tires. I bought a Wilwood disc brake kit for my car.
They kept their drums. We all have c-clip eliminator kits and coil over kits. The only other differences is the M&H drag radials. They don't bubble up on the sidewall like the M/T drag radials. All my friends ran M/T drag radials on the street. We all run 275/60/15 drs but the M/T really bubble up on the sidewalls and causes rubbing issues on the inner wells and the fender lip. They had to pound the inner wells. With the coil overs, you can raise and lower your ride height just enough so you don't have to roll the fender lip as you can see the M&H does not bubble up and they don't stick out.
With the slicks, it does just stick out but that is slicks. I don't drive with slicks on the street. I have seen Mustangs with M&H 325/50/15 fit with no rubbing issues.
You will have better luck with 15x9 if you run M/T drag radials. I also believe if you use regular coil springs, you will have more clearance between the the tire and the springs too. It helps alot if you have adjustable upper and lower control arms too. You have to make sure your rear is centered in the car too. The adjustables gives you just that. After checking all those parameters, i didn't have any problems.
I know for sure i had a ton of room with the 15x9 and M&H, that is why i went to 15x10. hope this helps.
