We have installed the ford hot rod cam's on a S-197 mustang before. These cam's are NSR cam's (No Springs Required) any cam's that use the factory spring will be limited by factory red line and coil bind of the springs. These cam's with factory springs show little power gains. If you are looking for the old school hot rod idle these are the cam's for you.
I got the crower stage 3 blowers and I like them they have .612/.612 lift .550/.550 duration @.050 I put down 435hp/476tq with a kenne bell on a very safe tune. will add a water/meth kit and lots of timing when I get back from deployment. hopefully i will get mid 5's
I am fairly sure that will require fairly high compression and if you have high compression then a supercharger would not be a good option. Thats my opionion but maybe someone here with more motor experience could further clarify. 500hp N/A on a 4.6 I have never seen but I am sure its out there. I am assuming you have a 4.6?
I have never delt with the 3v but the concept of it sounds good. Good luck, I am not really sure how to 500 ponies without high compression H/C/I and an assload of fuel. then you have all the obvious tweeking that is involved.
that is absurd, you can build a motor to reach 500hp but by the time you add up all the cost you realize its easier to slap a whipple or centri on it..i understand that but to some they feel n/a is what they want and if that is their want it is worth it to them.
i wouldnt say it hasnt been done... just that you have never done it..
The whipple or kenne Bell will get you the power you are looking for or just toss in a twin turbo and call it a day. It is a little pricey but if you shop smart then you can find all you need for a decent price. I don't think you mind much about prices though if your trying to build a 500hp N/A. Good luck with the build. Boost the shit out of it!!!
Here is one of our packages that I think you would be happy with 2006 mustang with 2.3 whipple 3200 stalled auto makes 462 RWHP and 411 RWTQ daily driver pump gas. This car would make over 500 RWHP it it was a 5 speed.
