Ever get some bad 93 octane gas? I did last week. Car was running stout until I filled up in Greenwich NY at a Weaver Petroleum Mobil station. Went about 5 miles after filling up in their shit gas and car started pinging and knocking. I immediately suspected bad gas because of the circumstances. Car ran ok as long as I kept it under 2500 rpms. So i spent 2.5 hrs driving up and down I-87 from Saratoga to Albany until i got it down to a 1/4 tank. Then I went to Sunoco in Malta and put in 9 gallons of 110 octane race fuel at 9.80$ a gallon ($80) for the fill up. Went about 5 miles and ping and Knocking went away.
No return calls from Weaver Petroleum so now I have a call into Washington County "Weights and Measures" dept. The owner should have contacted me and resolved issue with me. but now It will become a public matter and they will have to remove all of the fuel from the 93 oct tank and have ALL of the other locations tested as well. As far as I know it cost about $1000 to test the octane for each batch.
WEAVER PETROLIEM HAS MOBIL MARTS ALL OVER THE CAPITAOL DISTRICT AREA OF SARATOGA, CLIFTON PARK, MECHANICSVILL, AND ALBANY. CAREFUL WHERE U GET YOUR GAS GUYS IF YOUR IN THE ALBANY/SARATOGA AREA.
