Driving home from the dog park, thick grey smoke started pouring out of the a/c vents- I thought the car was on fire. I pulled over and there was a puddle of greenish oil on the ground under the engine and the smoke eventually stopped. My mechanic says I need to replace the compressor, riser and orifice. He says the system is holding vacuum and the clutch is working, but there's no circulation of the refrigerant. I found the orifice and riser on line. Can't for the life of me find the compressor. None of the listings that say it fits my car are the right compressor. Mounting and ports are wrong. Tried all the major Mustang, vintage and parts dealers. No one locally can rebuild the thing. Any suggestions on how I can get this fixed would be appreciated. 1986 Mustang LX 2.3L aspirated.
