hello, my 93 LX has had this issue for awhile. I would go to turn the car on and my hand would slip and the key would go back to the off position. I would go to turn on again and the check engine light would come on and the car would just crank and crank but never start. I would have to let it sit overnight and go back and it would usually start. this happened a few times this past year, and finally the fuel pump went in it. I had it replaced and didnt have the problem at all. On new years day, i drive down to robert moses and get out, i go to start the car, i guess i didnt turn the key all the way, and tried it again and it did the check engine light and cranking again with no luck. My dad had to come get me, and illegally tow me home 10 miles on a state parkway! the battery died on the way home as it was at night, jumped it the next day and wouldnt turn over, just clicking. took battery out and charged it overnight, put it back in and the car started up fine. We were told the ignition modual could be shot. My uncle in NC works for a ford dealership and owns the same car said he has the same issue, it has to do with the car's computer system. he said there is nothign you can do once it happens but let it sit and "reset" itself and the only way to prevent it is not slip when starting the car or it will just be dead, there nothing you can do. my question is does this happen to anyone else, and what is causing this problem because the car is not reliable now, im afraid of being stuck with a huge towing fee cause of it. any help would be thankful!
