I suspect there was a prior repair that was not done properly. Most times the shop puts a plug in but does not patch the inside of the tire. Air can then seep into the repaired hole where it expands and creates a slight separation of the plys. Over time the separation tends to become bigger...

Parchment tops look:thumbsdown:.....except on white or red:awesomework: (where black is:thumbsdown:) Keep the top and don't do the mirrors, put the $$ into something that makes it go faster or handle better!
