Let's see, took off all the wheels on the car, detailed the inside of the rims as well as the brake rotors and adjoining areas...detailed the engine..waxed the beast.....detailed the inside.....well...it must be car show season!!! See some of you at Jack Byrne's FOMOCO show tomorrow!!
Spent last week in the Southwest - rented a 2015 Mustang w/Ecoboost engine- drove it over 1000 miles. Nice car- a lot of complicated devices on it ( like the radio and climate controls- all via a dashboard touchpad - not very intuitive). Car was fast when over 2k RPM's. Final analysis - while the car cruised nicely at 80 or so ( speed limits are 75), got over 30 mpg and handled well, I would definitely have to buy one with the V8 engine- all due to the lack of exhaust note in the 4 cylinder engine ( sounded like the wife's Subaru off the line). Need that ROAR, not the whine of a rubber band.
Swung by Guptills ( Latham, NY) last night- 20 or so cars were there- mostly Camaros and Vettes with a few Challengers sprinkled in. I know Tim tried to get a group together to go down a few weeks ago- it would be nice if a bunch of us could hook up and attend one of these impromptu Friday gatherings so the Mustang could be well represented.........maybe next year...
Reminder----Metro Ford Car show this Saturday, 8/23/14, 3601 State Street, Schenectady, NY. Registration 10am- noon. All makes/models. DJ, prizes, food and over 50 trophies. Event goes until 3:30pm. See you there.........
In Vegas for the mustang 50th birthday bash. Starting to see many hot mustangs arrive. Can't wait for tomorrow night- the strip should be crazy with stangs! Saw a 1965 Shelby 350 at Hoover dam today. Weather here is great- can't say the same for NY looking at the forecast. I will keep all posted on the insanity that is sure to ensue!
I should know this, but I don't.... would a '65 stang 200cyl. run on todays gas or would it need the good old fashioned regular/pre catalytic converter stuff???? Thinking about buying a restored 65 coupe w/ 6 cyl......
Day off, out and about in "the" car today!!! Saw a beautifull 2012 Red Shelby Cobra for sale at Denooyer Chevy- someday- for now I am content with my 2008 GT......
Took the car out of storage today ( could not wait any longer), fired her up and took a long spin to the beer store in Clifton Park. Roads dry- sun shining- engine roaring! I almost feel alive again!
Here is that comparison , somewhat..............[ame=http://youtu.be/pD3hgleEOXA]Subaru BRZ vs Ford Mustang! - Head 2 Head Episode 7 - YouTube[/ame][IMG]
Took my 2008 GT to the dealer today to get the oil changed- he tells me the car has loose ball joints and needs right and left lower control arms- really?? Car has 40k miles on it and I baby the shit out of it. Never had these issues with my Toyotas and Subarus- too bad they can't make a Mustang!
Just crossed paths with a 2011/2012 blue Cobra on Rt. 9 in Clifton Park......traded friendly salutations ( as I always do when I see a fellow 'Stang on the road)........my day is now complete!
Bought a 2005 F-150 4x4 yesterday- for the winter and teenage son. 4.6L/16V. Nice thing, many similarities interior wise to the 08 Mustang. Used to be a Toyota guy- now a Ford V8 guy! Bring on the snow.
Nice day today at the Downstate Wounded Warriors cruise/car show- always cool to meet and drive with new NYM members! BTW: for the two other "blue" stangs I cruised home with - we turned alot of South bound divers heads...always a great feeling! Mel- looking forward to your great pix- thanx ahead of time!
