I have a 1973 Mustang with the 302 in it. I have fully restored all of the body and the interior of the car and now that I have the money I am looking into doing the motor. I'm trying to get more power out of the motor and at 103,000 miles it could use a good rebuilding. At the moment I'm not sure if I will be doing the work myself or have a shop do it. If anyone had any names of places that would be reasonably priced and do good work in the Rochester area please let me know.
My wife & I used to live in East Bloomfield for a few years, then up in Gates for a couple before moving back to NJ & I remember a member here (jmiller) had an engine done at Ontario engine & machine in Canandaigua. Here is a link to the yellow pages ad with their phone number & address. IIRC they are right on Rt-5/20 just east of Canandaigua. Ontario Engine & Machine Shop Canandaigua, NY 14424 - YP.com
I had my 289 rebuilt here: Pro-Formance Specialties - Home
They do a lot of racing stuff, but they came recommended to me.
I had brought mine in during their busy season, so it took a bit to get done. However, I was taking too long on my side anyway (getting engine bay re-painted and re-building the tranny), so it didn't matter to me.
While it is in my car and I have run it, I haven't had the car completely on the road yet to give it a true test.
The owner's name is Matt.
I looked up their facebook page, looks like they are building a bigger shop in Marion. They are currently on E Main.
