I know tons of people swap out the 4cyl for the 5.0's and up. I'm just looking for some locals around the albany ny area who is into turbo 2.3's. I very easily could do a v-8 swap but I like the idea of having room to work on your car "4cyl" and have the gas milage. I plan on driving this car alot in the summer. Want to run in the low 12's. Turbo 2.3 automatic and hopefully be able to pull out boost and get good milage. Well see tons of reading and work ahead of me.

I just bought a Holset HX35 turbo for absolutely no reason at all. LOL
The guy I got it from was making 35lbs. of boost with it on his Cummins 12V.

Have access to a pretty decent sized junkyard. What is good to scavange from for turbo builds? Volvo intercooler maybe?

Volvo heads are good for the 2.3's, also, check Thunderbird Turbo Coupes for parts. I have a 4 banger with 290,000 miles on it all original with no rebuild or anything still going strong, they're tough little engines. I'm sure 1QWKVER will chime in, he has a pretty nasty little setup...

Yeah i've read about the volvo head swap. Not sure about it. The 84 turbo coupe hopefully is the setup I need. Maybe rebuild my 2.3 to handle the boost and go that route. What head to use etc...

i had an 86 turbo coupe that would out run the gt mustangs at the time but i had an adjustable waste gate and intercooler on it wish i still had it. Get an oil accumulator turbo still spins when you shut down the engine but has no oil pressure oil accumulator will make your turbo last longer.

I think the volvo head swap is a waste of time.
My 2.3 is close to 500 on SOHC and e85

I have a 93' Mustang that needs a Engine, it a 4 cyl. I can get a 88' T-Bird 4 cyl Turbo ready to install with Wire harness & computer. I've did engine swaps before but nothing like this, any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm a Old School Mech. not used to all the electrical & computer stuff? Thanks for any help recieved!

Have you done this swap? I have read most of the article a while ago, doesn't sound too simple ? Someone told me it's a easy swap & than someone else told only the engine from the T-Bird I can use? He said I need to find a TURBO set-up from a Mustang? I don't want to buy the T-bird set -up & not be able to use. The guy who told me I need Mustang set-up is a mechanic from Ford, who am I supposed to listen too???????

I dont know who talked to but he sounds retarded.
First off its all the same stuff minus the computer, turbo and a couple of other misc things. Yes i have done this swap. What do you think my car is? Its a whole lot cheaper and easier to get a t-bird motor because it allows you to run your stock wiring harness. All you gotta do is wire in a VAM. CAKE!

Whay year is your car & engine? My car is off the road now, so I'm not pressed for time only bad thing NO GARAGE. The way the weather has been around here might have to wait till spring to do it? You have been alot of help! The best thing is you know what I need to do! Thanks again, Jim

I had a 1990 LX Vert, the year of the motor was an 88 TC motor, but fully built.
