Thanks.

Here is the 2010 ammendment.....

http://www.nhra.com/UserFiles/file/2...Amendments.pdf

NHRA has way too many (IMO stupid) rules for turbocharged cars. Like this for example:

Quote:
Page 20.13
(1st paragraph)
2:13 TRANSMISSION, Aftermarket Planetary (12/8/09)
A transmission shield covering transmission and reverser that meets SFI Spec 4.1 is
mandatory if engine burns nitromethane; or engine burns methanol or nitrous oxide
and runs 9.99 seconds or quicker; or vehicle runs 7.49 seconds or quicker; or engine is
supercharged or turbocharged; or on any overdrive unit. Air shifter bottles must be
stamped with DOT-1800 pound rating (minimum) and be securely mounted (i.e., no tiewraps
or hose clamps).
So if I bracket my wives BONE STOCK 16 second Thunderbird Turbocoupe I need to install ALL that. Ha I think not. That's why I don't race, I'd go broke trying to build one & be 100% legal.

Not sure about NHRA but you can run IHRA test and tune tracks without having to pass tech on a test and tune night.

Most tracks follow NHRA rules even for test & tune. I have seen cars get thrown out for not have a the right safety equipment.

The only thing they worry about at Leichester and Lancaster is if you have good seat belts and a helmet. If your running slicks you need a drive shaft loop, and they need to see the ends of the wheel studs. If your car is not street legal you can't have antifreeze in it. Basically, it's common sence, if you go fast, you need more safety stuff. Most of these rules aren't enforced if you don't run faster then 12.99's, and if you go out on Shredd and Ragen's cruse night, they usually don't check anything, hell I saw a pretty quick golf cart with a motorcycle engine in it go down the track at Lancaster Speedway. I highly doubt that they will require your 14 sec Thunderbird to have a SFI rated bellhousing because it has a turbo in it, espically at your local mom and pop track. They, like everybody else, don't want to turn down cold hard cash in this tough economy.
