Cool How to make foglight stay on w/ high beams 94-04

On all 94-04 GT & Cobra Mustangs, when the high beams are activated, the foglights immediately turn off. This is a function implemented from the factory. Outlined below are the steps necessary to have your foglights stay on when your high beams are activated in any 94-04 Mustang.

Materials Needed:
# 16 gauge wire approximately 2.5” in length ($4.24 for a 12’ roll)
# Two male spade connectors ($3.14 for a pack of 4)
# Electrical Tape ($2.09 for a roll)
# Wire Strippers
# Needle Nose Pliers

Preparing Jumper (fake relay):

# Take your 16 gauge wire and strip off approximately ½” of the plastic sheathing on both ends.
# Crimp the two male spade connectors at each end of your 16 gauge wire with your pliers. Wrap any exposed wire with black electrical tape.
# This completes the fabrication of your jumper.

Step 1:

# Open the cover on the fuse box located underneath the hood and remove the relay using needle nose pliers.

Step 2:
# Once the relay is removed, you will notice five different open slots. The male connectors at each end of your jumper must be inserted in the two outermost slots.

Step 3:
# Insert your jumper (fake relay) in the two outermost slots.

Step 4:
# Finally, finish your installation by closing the cover on the fuse box. You are now done!

You should now be able to turn your high beams without having the foglights cut off.

If you want them to stay on with the parking lights, just use the ignition power lead that is in the convertible top switch harness under the consul next to the fog light switch

you don't have to have a convertible, the wiring harness is still there. but the problem is, ford redesigned the center console in i think 01 or so. they moved the fog light switch up next to the trac off and rear defog switch, under the radio. it's no longer next to the vert switch, so that mod won't work on later new edge mustangs.

i'll be doing this myself probably tonight. i have an 99/01 cobra front end, so the upgraded fogs and the high-beams are going to be perfect when i'm driving alone

I should have said it's for the SN-95 cars.

So I attempted this mod tonight with negative results. The how to isn't clear enough. It doesn't say whether you need to be modding the FOG LIGHT relay or the FOG LIGHT BYPASS relay. Both have 5 spade holes in them. So I tried the FOG LIGHT relay. I inserted the fake relay into the holes and my fog lights turned on without the knob being pulled, so I'm like well, that's not right lol. As I was removing the fake relay, one of the spades touched my strut tower bar and sparked like a mother. Now my fogs won't turn on. I don't see a fuse for the foglights, just the FOG LIGHT and FOG LIGHT BYPASS relays. Everything else still works just fine. The bulbs themselves are fine. I checked them to make sure they didn't blow in the surge. The FOG LIGHT BYPASS relay was installed at the time of the spark, so is it possible that the surge ruined the fog light bypass relay? after the spark, i reinstalled everything back to stock. when I try to turn the fogs on, I can hear the fog light relay clicking on, and the indicator light inside the car is on, just no fogs. HELP!

to correct, the relay i'm talking about is actually called the FOG LAMP INTERRUPT, not FOG LIGHT BYPASS

Wire in a relay between the fogs and parking lights. If you want to switch them, feed the relay from the switch going to the parking lights then from the fog switch to the relay, from relay to fogs.

Or just tap the feed to the parking lights to the relay, and go to the fogs. when the parking lights go on, the fogs will also.
