2011 GT Pace Car Tops the List of Charity Cars at Barrett-Jackson Auction

Making us even more proud of our pony emblem, five Mustangs were sold for charity at the most recent Barrett-Jackson collector car auction, held in Scottsdale, AZ. The newly released 2011 Mustang GT Glass Roof Pace Car was the highest single-sale earner, with $300,000 going towards the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The auction house, in a noble gesture, waived the fees and commission on the charity sale. Close to $400,000 in fees were not collected at auction as a small but deserving gift to those who gave towards the cause. In total, $807,000 worth of Mustangs benefitted various charitable groups.

It’s worth noting that Darrell Gwynn’s 1990 Coors Extra Gold dragster replica was sold three times. The first winner, snagging the dragster for a cool $200,000, put it back on the auction block, where it brought in another $110,000. Once again, it was donated and sold for a third time, with a grand total of $410,000 benefitting the Darrell Gwynn Foundation. At the end of the auction almost $4.5 million was generated for worthy, charitable causes. Another day in the books for Barrett-Jackson.
